Boris
Kegel-Konietzko

On October 3, 2020 Boris Kegel-Konietzko passed away at the age of 95.

With him, the art world has lost a dealer, collector, scientist and storyteller who was literally born into tribal art. No wonder, his parents Lore Kegel and Julius Konietzko were already internationally known traders and researchers. African tribal art was Boris' life since he photographed and described (together with his mother Lore Kegel) all the exhibits of Hans Himmelheber's West Africa expedition in 1934. Boris was 10 years old at the time.

If you would like to learn more about Boris and his life, please read his obituary from the Spring 99/2021 issue of Tribal Art Magazine.

The sight of red river courses in the dense green of the Congo is very impressive.
